To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Because we are not only a doctor’s office, but also a full service animal hospital, emergency cases are brought in. Emergencies shall always receive top priority, followed by scheduled appointments.
Though we can't always anticipate emergencies or cases that take longer than the scheduled time, we make a sincere effort to see scheduled appointments on time. We understand that your time is as valuable as ours. And, no one likes to wait! That is why we developed a wait time monitoring system for scheduled appointments. We also make every attempt to keep you informed of your anticipated wait when emergency situations do occur. We can offer you the some alternatives when a wait situation does occur:
- Re-schedule the appointment
- Appointment drop-off service- leave your pet for treatment and pick up later in the day
We can usually provide you with an appointment within 24 hours of the time you call, or sooner if the matter is urgent. Please call (301) 862-2441 to schedule an appointment. Our receptionists will make every attempt to arrange an appointment time that is convenient for you.
For your protection and that of others, we request that your dog be on a leash and your cat or other type of pet be in a carrier when in the waiting room area.
| Appointment Drop-Off Service
If you are unable to come during available appointment times, a drop off arrangement may also be made starting as early as 7 AM Monday through Friday. A drop off means that you leave your pet with us to complete the medical care needed and pick him/her up at a later time. Please leave a phone number where you may be reached in case the doctor has questions. |

Stool Sample
For Wellness Exam and vaccination appointments a stool sample should be brought. Stool samples are used to test your pet for intestinal parasites which are harmful to your pet, especially in puppies and kittens, and in some cases may be contagious to humans. By bringing an adequate, fresh sample you will allow us to run a fecal test by centrifugation, which is the most accurate test available to detect parasites and assure you of your pet's health.

For more information on specific parasites in dogs and cats visit
The Companion Animal Parasite Council or the VIN Search Library.
We also need a sample at the time of your appointment if your pet is having intestinal problems such as diarrhea or vomiting. |
